I don’t know why school dances prices are being lowered when every other want in the world is raising their prices. Kids want snacks they pay a higher price and will pay a higher price next year. Milk and bread go up in price but you still allow yourself to stress over planning an event on a shoestring budget. Think of all the things you could do with the extra cash. How about adding a real value service to your event? Unless you can show me something that is actually lowering their price on a regular basis you shouldn’t be lowering yours. In 2013 and beyond homecomings should be $40+ and proms should be $80+ based on added value. Catering to the fringe students that really don’t want to go isn’t going to help you improve sales and will only add stress. Imagine a day where you set the price early ($80) and then find the right value vendors based on pre-ticket sales? From there you can project your revenue and really add value. Don’t undervalue your dance by thinking by lowering prices the fringe students will show up in droves. Price your dance so that you add great value and have something left over for the school or club sponsoring the event.
